Comprehensive School Improvement Updates
The graduation rate for Diamond Ridge’s class of 2020 is officially 80% – way to go! We currently are on track for a grad rate in the upper 77+% range for the class of 2021, based on current projections. Staff have been working hard on our school improvement goals of (1) Using effective, evidence-based strategies in the classroom, (2) Differentiating professional learning, (3) Engaging families to support student success, and (4) Consistently implementing rules and routines.
Digital Citizenship
- Louis Sherman reviewed Digital Citizenship requirements, as outlined by Canyons School District (CSD):
Diamond Ridge High School will provide student technology education, parent technology education and information about our district’s filtering and networks support system.
- Does the SCC feel it has received enough information to determine if the filtering systems and supervision practices are appropriate?
- Does the SCC feel it has received enough information about the school’s educational effort to instill a student’s desire to be a good digital citizen?
- Does the SCC believe the school has a viable plan to present internet citizenship and safety information to the parents in the community?
If the SCC has not received adequate information to support the school’s digital citizenship efforts, the council should produce a recommended action plan. Upon completion of the review by the SCC the Principal, SCC Chair and DigCit Building representative will submit the school digital citizenship plan through CSD Dashboard.
- Louis Sherman is Diamond Ridge’s current Digital Citizenship Coordinator. He distributes information in Diamond Ridge’s monthly newsletter – Raptor Report; and emails faculty monthly with video content which reviewed in classrooms with safety procedures and tips.
Next year’s Digital Citizenship goal is to use Nearpod school-wide.
- Diamond Ridge would like to use ORG, which runs through the Boys & Girls Club. They provide age-appropriate monthly training, plus parent information and tips.
- Right now our presentations are in-class, video lessons. Louie would like us to do live lessons embedded in class instruction and include lesson on “hate speech.”
Graduation Plan for Class of 2021
- Diamond Ridge High School will use the same plan as implemented for the Class of 2020’s ‘drive through’ graduation experience. SCC agreed that parents and students experienced a “more meaningful” and connected graduation, with many more opportunities for students and parents to interact with staff.
Review Final TSSP & Land Trust Reports from 2019-2020
- See attached Final Reports. Right now it looks like we have budgeted well, and are on track to make the needed expenditures to support the TSSP and Land Trust plans.
TSSP & Land Trust Draft Plans and SCC Priorities for 2021-22 School Year
- See attached Plan Drafts for next year. SCC unanimously approved our direction.
